The Difference from PMMA LGP and PS LGP

Acrylic light guide plate and PS light guide plate are two kinds of light guide materials commonly used in LED panel lights. There are some differences and advantages between them.

Material: The acrylic light guide plate is made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), while the PS light guide plate is made of polystyrene (PS).

Anti-UV performance: Acrylic light guide plate has good anti-ultraviolet performance, which can effectively reduce the yellowing phenomenon under long-term exposure. The PS light guide plate is not very resistant to ultraviolet rays and is prone to yellowing.

Light transmission performance: Acrylic light guide plate has high light transmission performance, which can evenly distribute LED light on the entire panel and reduce light loss.  The light transmission performance of the PS light guide plate is poor, which may cause uneven distribution of light and waste of energy.

Thickness: The acrylic light guide plate is relatively thick, usually above 2-3mm, and is suitable for high brightness led panel lights. The PS light guide plate is relatively thin, usually between 1-2mm, and is suitable for small-sized panel lights.

To sum up, the advantages of acrylic light guide plates include good UV resistance, high light transmission performance and suitable for large-size panel lights, while PS light guide plates are suitable for small-size panel lights. Which light guide plate to choose should be determined according to actual needs and budget.
